Q: What is the purpose of AfterTheGavel.com?
A: AfterTheGavel is for sellers to be able to manage risk for their online auction businesses. As the world of online auctions changes sellers need to know who they are dealing with as buyers as much if not more than buyers need to know sellers. AfterTheGavel.com will serve as a balancing weight to keep this information available to sellers.
Q: How much does it cost to join?
A: It costs nothing to register, search or submit feedback.
Q: Do I have to give a credit card # to register.
A: Absolutely not. There are no fees and therefore no need for us to have access to your money.
Q: Can buyers leave feedback?
A: Not at this time but we may add that in the future.
Q: Will my User ID be seen by the public?
A: NO. We understand that no seller wants pressure from their auction site to not participate in this open information exchange so to protect sellers we will only display Buyers IDs and the feedback left for them.
Q:How can AfterTheGavel.com help me protect my auction business?
A: It has been a long held belief that when someone that is doing wrong is exposed they can be stopped. If you know there is a thief in your neighborhood you will lock your doors. The same is true online. If you know someone is a problem customer you can block them from doing business with you and causing you problems including ruining your seller reputation with unjustified negative feedback. All sellers even if they are not registered can search buyer IDs and find out if they want to block a buyer due to their history. That is fair and justified on the sellers part. Sellers can also leave feedback to warn other sellers. This will create a strong deterrent to buyers being unfair & unreasonable to sellers as it has always been.
Q: Can I leave positive feedback for buyers here?
A: Not at this time. We feel that positive feedback is abundantly available on other sites. Also This reduces a sellers time of finding out who they are dealing with. If we had positive, neutral & negative feedback it would take more time for a seller to sift through the total information to find the information they need.
Q: Why did you decide to offer this to sellers?
A: We have friends that sell on auction sites and wanted to give them this tool to protect their business and yours.
Q: How will you know if sellers are leaving information about buyers for actual transactions?
A: Sellers will be required to provide enough transaction information so we can verify the buyer & seller matches the transaction.
Q: How do I log in to the forum?
A: Unfortunately, the registration for the forum is currently separate from the regular site login. You will have to register under the forum system in order to post there.
